Pil­bara Girl com­pe­ti­tion open

En­tries are now open for this year’s Pil­bara Girl com­pe­ti­tion.

The pro­gram is open to indigenous girls be­tween the ages of 16 and 25years-old from Kar­ratha, Roe­bourne, Wick­ham, Hed­land and their sur­round­ing com­mu­ni­ties.

Pil­bara Girl aims to show­case the beauty of our re­gion’s Indigenous women and cul­ture.

Through­out the month of July, en­trants will par­tic­i­pate in a se­ries of work­shops fo­cus­ing on per­sonal and pro­fes­sional devel­op­ment, lead­er­ship, de­port­ment and groom­ing.

The first heat event will be held on July 15 and fi­nal­ists will com­plete another round of work­shops in Oc­to­ber be­fore the crown­ing.

The 2016 Pil­bara Girl will be crowned at a cer­e­mony in Broome on Oc­to­ber 7.

Past win­ners of Pil­bara Girl have gone on to walk in WA Fash­ion Week, par­tic­i­pate in youth lead­er­ship pro­grams through­out Aus­tralia and over­seas, and MC at lo­cal NAIDOC events.
