Junior team flies south to take on Perth’s best
A team of young Karratha futsal players has flown down to compete against teams in Perth in a weeklong competition.
North West Elite Futsal Academy formed a team of juniors only nine weeks ago, but nine-year-old captain Jye Sander said the team was still out to win the competition.
“We’re excited and I hope the other teams are good sports,” he said.
“We’re all getting together more, turning into one team. “I think we’re going to do well.” Sander said he loved the fastpaced and highly skilled nature of the game.
NWEFA director Jess Byrne said she was proud of the development of the players in such a short time.
“To get them to where they are is a massive credit to the coach and parents for helping out and supporting us,” she said.
Coach Steph Oddo said the boys were looking forward to the competition. She hoped the players would have opportunities to go on to bigger and better things from this experience.
