Tight games featured in Karratha tournament

Pilbara News - - Pilbara Sport - Rob Skinner

The matches can’t get any closer than they were this week with all games being decided 8-7.

The tight matches and upsets resulted in a reshaping of the ladder. Warriors 8-7 win over Wreckers was enough to grab top spot after Mongrels went down to Recaholics in an enthralling match.

Mongrels led 3-2 after the first round but a 4-1 reversal by Recaholics put them in the box seat at 6-4 up, requiring Mongrels to win four of the last five games.

Mongrels replied with the first three games to lead 7-6 and looked to escape an upset loss but it was not to be as Recaholics won the last two games for their 8-7 win, leapfrogging them into fourth position ahead of Wreckers.

In other games, Taverners also had an upset loss to Punishers to keep Punishers in contention for a top four spot while Slayers put Animals to the sword for the second time this year to almost put Animals on the bottom of the ladder.
