Councillors tied up in meeting memo

Pilbara News - - News - Tom Zaunmayr

Male councillors and City of Karratha staff have stepped formalities up a notch and begun wearing ties at council meetings.

There was a very Perth vibe in the council chambers last Monday as every male member around the table bar one strutted out in business attire complete with a tie. Cr Bart Parsons went full suit.

Roebourne ward Cr Garry Bailey seems to be ignoring the memo.

Previously councillors mostly stuck to business attire minus the tie.

The exception was former councillor Michael Saylor who rocked up to most meetings wearing his NAIDOC shirt.

The female councillors have always dressed well.

The Pilbara News will keep you updated with Cr Bailey’s fight for our Pilbararian right not to wear a tie at next month’s council meeting.

City of Karratha failed to respond by time of print.
