Midnight Special Starring: Michael Shannon, Jaeden Lieberher Directed by: Jeff Nichols Showing at Moonrise Cinema, May 28

Another big weekend at Moonrise Cinema is coming up, with Captain America: Civil War screening on Friday, May 27, before Midnight Special shows on Saturday, May 28.

Writer and director Jeff Nichols again proves that he is one of the most compelling storytellers of our time with the sci-fi thriller Midnight Special.

A provocative, genre-defying film as supernatural as it is intimately human, it follows a father, Roy (Michael Shannon), who goes on the run to protect his young son, Alton (Jaeden Lieberher), a boy with mysterious powers that even Roy himself cannot comprehend.

What starts as a race from religious extremists and local law enforcement quickly escalates into a nationwide manhunt involving the highest levels of the US Government.

Both films begin at 7pm and tickets are available at www.moonrisecinema.com.au. Some tickets will also be available at the gate.

The bond between a father and his supernaturally gifted son is explored in sci-fi thriller Midnight Special.
