Caramelised pears with le­mon gin­ger sauce

Prepa­ra­tion: 10 min­utes Cook­ing: 15 min­utes Serves: 4


1 tbsp but­ter

2 ripe pears, sliced length­wise,

1⁄2 cm thick

2 tbsp brown su­gar

2cm piece fresh gin­ger, grated grated rind and juice of

1 le­mon

1 tbsp but­ter, ex­tra


Melt the but­ter in a fry­ing pan. Add pears. Cook over medium heat un­til soft­ened. Re­move pears and keep warm. Stir su­gar, gin­ger, le­mon rind and juice and ex­tra but­ter into pan. Bring to the boil. Stir un­til smooth and slightly thick­ened. Pour over pears to serve.
