The City of Karratha is backing a campaign to reduce falls and fall-related injuries among older adults in the community.

The Injury Control Council of Western Australia has given the City Up Off The Floor posters to be put up at public events in the area.

Older adults, family members and carers are also able to order free posters and falls action plans so they are prepared for an unexpected fall.

Falls are the leading cause of hospitalisation in WA with one in three people over the age of 65 experiencing a fall each year. ICCWA recommend a number of steps to prevent falls and reduce injury, including talking to your GP about what help is available.
