Homemaker heaven on way for locals

Pilbara News - - Opinion - Peter Long Peter Long is the City of Karratha Mayor.

You might have noticed work on the south side of the Dampier Highway near 7-Mile Creek and adjacent the Civeo Camp.

This is the Gap Ridge Homemaker Centre which is an area for bulky goods retailers.

This is a type of development common in Perth with huge shops and ample parking — where mum, dad and the kids wander from store to store on weekends looking for furniture and whitegoods.

Council approved two new road names for the Homemaker Centre at its last meeting — Corringer Avenue and Melford Road — and the ground works are now rapidly nearing completion.

This new estate will be accessed from Madigan Road and will be developed in stages.

The asphalt has just been laid for stage 1 and future stages will expand west towards the Creek and the existing Water Corporation facility.

LandCorp has received expressions of interest to develop blocks of land in this area from Spotlight, BCF, Godfreys, Repco, Petshack and others.

This is an exciting development for our city and we are looking forward to a range of new retail opportunities for our community.

More information is available on the LandCorp web site at www.landcorp.com.au/Industrial-and-Commercial/Gap-RidgeHomemaker-Centre.
