Re­gion’s top rid­ers take on the Tom Price track

About 200 BMX rid­ers from across the Pil­bara par­tic­i­pated in the first round of the BMX North­west Su­per Se­ries in Tom Price last month.

This event, which runs from May 21 to Septem­ber, con­sists of four rounds, with a round held in Tom Price, Port Hed­land, Kar­ratha and New­man.

The event con­sists of 25 classes, from three-year-old mini wheel­ers to adult men’s and women’s races.

Medals are pre­sented to the top three rid­ers in each class, with the top eight rid­ers of the se­ries win­ners an­nounced af­ter the fi­nal round at the New­man East Pil­bara BMX club.

All chil­dren un­der eight re­ceive a par­tic­i­pa­tion medal af­ter each round.

The Tom Price BMX club put in a big ef­fort to have their track and ameni­ties in top con­di­tion for a great day of rac­ing.

The Kar­ratha club was well rep­re­sented with some fan­tas­tic re­sults achieved through­out the classes.

In par­tic­u­lar, Kar­ratha dom­i­nated the medals in the cruiser class, win­ning 10 of the 11 medals avail­able.

The club also ex­celled in the pro men cat­e­gory, with Kar­ratha rid­ers bag­ging all three medals up for grabs.
