The cooler weather and favourable shift rosters resulted in an increase in players numbers at the Nickol Bay Pro Hockey competition last Wednesday.

This week the Karratha Seagulls defeated the Pilbara Giraffes 13-10.

Steve Cook was invaluable in defence for the Giraffes, along with Angela Ballantyn.

Tania Underwood in fine form on the left post for Seagulls, slotting in perfectly placed mid-field passes from Tim Ballantyne.

On the pitch next door, the Pilbara Pythons got off to a slow start against the Karratha Creepers.

Paul Montgomary, Gavin Canning and Toyah Churton, dominated early for Creepers and scored six unanswered goals before the Pythons made it onto the score sheet. Pythons slowly clawed their way back into the game with the unpassable Nathan Fitzgerald in defence setting up several goals on the counterattack, but it was too little too late as Creepers won 9-5.
