Pilbara News - - Sport - Steve Cook

The Karratha Creepers took on the Karratha Giraffes in local hockey action last Wednesday.

The Creepers started well with Ed Clarke opening the scoring with a blistering run down the right wing.

The two teams were evenly matched for the remainder of the first half, and the Creepers went into the break with a onegoal advantage.

In the second half, Megan Gilly started to come into the game with some probing leads in attack.

She was well-supported by Amirah King and Trudi Tunstead who both came on at halftime with fresh legs.

The game was in the balance until the final five minutes.

It was then that the Creepers struck and managed to pile on three goals in quick succession to ice the game.

Despite playing manfully with a broken toe, Giraffes captain Steve Cook was unable to stop the onslaught and the final margin was 8-4 in favour of the Karratha Creepers.

The Nickol Bay Hockey Association plays Wednesday nights at the Bulgarra tennis courts and always has space for new players. For inquiries, call Steve Cook on 9144 4423.
