Pilbara News - - News - Alicia Perera

West Pilbara police have reported overwhelmingly good behaviour across the district over the WA Day long weekend.

Police suggested that while the wild weather may have put a dampener on a lot of activities, it had also helped keep crime rates down as people sheltered indoors.

The first Nor-West Jockey Club race meet in Roebourne on Saturday went smoothly and police who attended said they were grateful for patrons’ good behaviour.

There were a handful of traffic incidents in Roebourne and Exmouth, a pub fight in Tom Price and several attempted burglaries in Onslow.

Police in the town arrested three men over attempted burglaries of a shop and sports club. They have been granted bail.

A police spokesman said Onslow experienced few burglaries or attempted burglaries, the previous one being about 12 months ago.
