Boat rescue warning
West Pilbara police were involved in a joint operation with the Point Walcott Volunteer Marine Service to rescue two people who they believe were stranded in flood waters at Balla Balla Creek on June 6.
Police became involved in the incident at 9.20pm, involving a male and female in a 3.5m dingy with engine problems. Officers were unable to access the road to Balla Balla because of heavy flooding.
Volunteer Marine Rescue was called to assist, deploying a boat from Point Samson to the rescue the pair who were found almost three hours later in good condition at the mouth of Balla Balla Creek.
Police said the incident highlighted risks associated with boating in extreme weather conditions.
