Wheatbelt farmer and anti-GMO activist Ian James has been announced as the Greens WA candidate for Durack.

Mr James will contest the seat of Durack against Liberal MP Melissa Price at the Federal election next month.

The Cunderdin-based father of four is passionate about the environment and believes “there’s a bit of green in everybody”.

“There’s a little bit in everyone; we all care and we don’t want to see our landscape degraded,” he said.

“My focus is to get the message out to as many people as I can that the environment has to be valued,” he said.

Having spent his life growing up on farms and travelling long distances, Mr James said he was undaunted by taking on the largest electorate in the country. “It’s a challenge I’m happy to take on,” he said.
