Hands-on week puts turtles in spotlight

Pilbara News - - News - Tom Zaunmayr

A Karratha primary school has teamed up with the West Pilbara Turtle Program to give its students a valuable insight into our region’s turtles.

Baynton West Primary School students spent a whole week learning about turtles last month in celebration of world turtle day.

During the week students learnt how human factors could affect turtles and what is needed to help protect them.

The Department of Parks and Wildlife loaned the school some turtle skulls and turtle artefacts so children could gain some hands-on experience.

The children have now participated in a colouring-in competition to help spread awareness.
