Roebourne on 4GX mobile
Roebourne is the latest part of the Pilbara to become covered by Telstra’s fastest mobile network.
The 4GX network was rolled out in town three weeks ago, giving residents with compatible devices such as the Samsung Galaxy S7 and Telstra Wi-Fi 4G Advanced III access to the highest-speed mobile internet network in Australia.
Most other urban centres in the Pilbara are already covered by the 4GX network, with nearby Karratha receiving access in 2012, Onslow in 2015 and Tom Price in April.
Telstra area general manager Boyd Brown said faster data speeds were a must for regional WA as much as metropolitan WA.
“The Roebourne community is relying on mobile connectivity more than ever,” he said.
“The explosion in applications, shift towards mobile video consumption and use of mobile in commerce means demand for connectivity continues to grow strongly.
“We’re staying ahead of this demand by introducing 4GX to increase network capacity. This will allow us to continue to offer our local customers Australia’s fastest most reliable mobile service.”
The 4GX rollout continues in the Pilbara, with Cape Lambert possibly one of the next locations.
