Captain Barnacles in line-up

Pilbara News - - Lifestyle - Louise Allingham

The Octonauts’ Captain Barnacles is heading to Wickham for the town’s annual family event.

Residents from Wickham and its surrounding areas are invited to attend the free event on Saturday, July 16, from 3pm-6pm at the Wickham Picture Gardens.

Captain Barnacles is the main character from the internationally popular Disney children’s series The Octonauts.

The Octonauts are underwater adventurers who dive into action when there is trouble in the ocean.

Captain Barnacles will put on a show to entertain children, and afterwards there will be a meet-and-greet session for fans.

The show is suitable for children under 10.

Wickham Community Association president Fiona White-Hartig said organisers were very excited to have such a popular and high-profile act join in this year’s family event.

“It is important to the WCA to deliver opportunities that will encourage positive engagement of our youth and children in Wickham,” she said.

“The Wickham Family Event gives the community a chance to access high quality entertainment that is not readily available in our region, and has been wildly successful in the past for participation and satisfaction.”

She said it was an easy decision to invite the Octonaut skipper to Wickham after the success of Peppa Pig’s visit at last year’s family event. As well as the show, children can enjoy getting their faces painted and a bouncy castle.

There will also be showbags, balloons and sweet treats including fairy floss, ice cream and popcorn for them to enjoy.

The Wickham Family Event is supported by the City of Karratha.
