Is­sues, themes to be dis­cussed

Cos­sack Art Awards judges Jenny Wat­son, Lau­rie Nilsen and Pro­fes­sor Sasha Gr­ishin will come to­gether to talk is­sues and themes in to­day’s art in­dus­try as part of the ex­ten­sive awards pub­lic pro­gram.

This ex­cep­tion­ally in­ter­est­ing half-hour will pro­vide in­sight to ex­hi­bi­tion visi­tors on the work­ings of the art world to­day and an op­por­tu­nity to pick the brains of these ex­cep­tional artists and art crit­ics. The dis­cus­sion will take place on Sun­day, July 24, from 12.30pm and is free to at­tend.

Spa­ces are lim­ited though, so you’ll need to book a spot.

This can be done by email­ing Cos­sack.art@kar­ratha.wa.gov. au. The Cos­sack Art Awards gen­eral ex­hi­bi­tion will be open daily from July 24 to Au­gust 14, 10am to 3pm.

The ex­hi­bi­tion is free to view and all are wel­come to have a look around and vote for their favourite piece of art­work in the Peo­ple’s Choice Award.

The 2016 awards are pre­sented by the City of Kar­ratha, prin­ci­pal part­ner Rio Tinto, and cat­e­gory spon­sors in­clud­ing Pil­bara Ports Au­thor­ity, Hori­zon Power, Wood­side, CITIC Pa­cific Min­ing, ECM, Ngar­luma Yind­jibarndi Foun­da­tion and GWN7.
