The annual Pilbara Darts Championships wrapped up on Friday, with the Geraldton side declared winners in the A-grade competition.

Players from Karratha-Dampier, Wickham, Meekathara, Geraldton, Port Hedland and Tom Price ventured to town for the week-long competition to play alongside Newman locals and vie for the champions title.

While Geraldton pipped the other sides in the top grade, Tom Price took out the titles in both B and C-grade with Wickham declared runners-up in each grade.

Pilbara Darts Council president Phil Leyland said the week was a huge success, adding he thought all the players enjoyed themselves.

“Well, to the towns it’s pretty important. We all enjoy getting together every year, ” he said.

About 80 players travelled to Newman for the event and for bragging rights. Next year the Pilbara Darts Championships will be hosted by Tom Price.
