Scouts benefit from 4WD club members’ mishaps
The mishaps and misadventures of a four-wheel-drive club will help send Karratha’s cub Scouts to a huge threenight camp near Perth in September.
Red Dog 4WD Club raised $781 through its fines tin in the past year which last week was donated to the Karratha Cub Scouts.
The Scouts will put the money towards a trip to the Enduro 2016 camping trip in Karrakup, just south of Perth.
Red Dog 4WD Club president Mark Hannon said events such as car breakdowns, punctures and annoying behaviour led to fines in the club.
“It’s all a joke, it’s all a bit of fun, and it goes to a good cause,” he said.
“We had a couple of good ones through the year.
“One guy lost a car, covered in water.
“His brand-spanking new Colorado. “He paid a $50 fine.” Mr Hannon said proceeds from fines for the year to come would be donated to SAFE Karratha.
Cub Scouts leader Zoe Roosendaal said the donation would go a long way to getting the group to the Enduro camp out with more than 500 cub Scouts from across WA.
“The cubs will be travelling to Perth and meeting with other cubs throughout the State and spending three days and three nights having adventures and the Manjedal Scout adventure camp” she said.
“This was a bit of a surprise so its lovely to have.”
Mrs Roosendaal said the Scouts were hoping to raise $6000 towards the trip.
