A new conservation framework will be established to maximise the value of environmental offsets from major industrial projects approved for the Pilbara.

Environment Minister Albert Jacob said a new conservation fund would ensure a strategic, co-ordinated application of environmental offsets.

“This will deliver better conservation outcomes and give the community and industry greater confidence in the State’s environmental assessment processes,” he said.

Under the new management framework, pooled environmental offset funds would become available to implement conservation projects, Mr Jacob said.
