PDC acting chief executive takes role permanently
The Pilbara Development Commission’s acting chief executive will be packing his bags and moving to Karratha after being offered the gig permanently.
Terry Hill has been in the job for about 18 months, during which time he has overseen major infrastructure projects and policy measures such as the Pilbara regional investment blueprint.
Mr Hill said it was a privilege to be formally accepted into the role for what he described as the “front end of a journey” in growing the Pilbara.
“I’m very excited about having the opportunity to work with a lot of absolutely committed, passionate people on growing this region,” he said.
“I think the Pilbara has an enormous amount to offer, we just have to get the story out.
“I think we’re all working to deliver the Pilbara Cities vision, but the new focus has been in the Pilbara regional investment blueprint.
“That sets out ambitious targets about population and very much a real focus on supporting a diversified economy.”
Mr Hill said outside of work, he was keen to get involved in the Pilbara’s much-touted aquatic lifestyle.
“I do love game fishing and I hear there are fantastic opportunities to do that here,” he said. “I love the ocean, love an adventure and the Pilbara offers all of that.”
Regional Development Minister Terry Redman said Mr Hill had done a good job as acting director of the PDC since February, 2015. “Mr Hill has a well-respected background in executive leadership within the regional development and agribusiness arenas in both a government and industry capacity,” he said.
