The man credited with turning the Red Dog 4WD Club around was granted life membership at a club meeting last week.

Over the past five years, of which Gary Vincent was president for three, the club has begun raising more funds for community groups, working behind the bar at events, and this year helped out with the Red Dog Relay.

Mr Vincent said he was honoured to join the small group of life members.

“The club has grown from when I first came here with a dozen members to up to 71 members in recent years,” he said. “I have lots of fond memories.” Red Dog 4WD Club president Mark Hannon said the role Mr Vincent had played in growing the club could not be understated.

“Mate, that guy is awesome, an absolutely brilliant guy,” he said.
