Hawks and Roosters in high-scoring draw

The Hedland Hawks have finally had a run on their home paddock after multiple schedule changes threw up a last-minute fixture against a Karratha Roosters outfit bolstered with fresh faces.

The game proved an 80-minute highlight reel as it see-sawed all night, culminating in a blockbuster 42-all draw.

Hawk Josh Young played hard in the middle, proving hard to tackle, while George Mallie had a perfect night with the boot.

Rory Murphy was also strong for the Hawks, running in for three tries. The half-time score was 24-all. The Roosters have been showing shades of their dual premiershipwinning 2013 and 2014 form and that was on display again at the weekend.

With all teams now guaranteed a finals spot because of the Storm forfeiting, the visitors will fancy their chances of a tilt at the trophy if they can find more consistency.

The Hawks have been largely untested this season and the Broncos’ fortunes will rely on their ability to put a full-strength team together.

Barring an upset such as last year, it is anyone’s guess who will face Wasps in this year’s decider.
