You Am I frontman Tim Rogers has been announced as the headline act at this year’s North West Festival Sundowner. Port Hedland Yacht Club will host an evening of laid-back music on Sunday, August 21, to close the North West Festival. Rogers said he was looking forward to playing a more relaxed gig after his set with You Am I at the North West Festival. “(I put) more attention into lyrics and singing a bit better because often with a rock and roll show you don’t let finesse get in the way of a good time,” he said.

“Even though the energy level may appear to be less than with a rock and roll show … there’s a different intensity to it because there’s actually the possibility that people are listening and I just try and put as much into them.”

Having grown up in WA and toured the country extensively, Rogers said he was no stranger to the Pilbara and enjoyed playing to regional crowds.

Joining Rogers at the sundowner will be Panics frontman Jae Laffer, the Elephant and the Coffee Table and Tanya Ransom.

There will also be family friendly activities, including a bouncy castle, face painting and roving performers. There will be performances from The Rubens, Sarah Blasko, The Veronicas, Urthboy, Harts and many more.

Sundowner tickets are available from Port Hedland Visitor Centre, South Hedland Library or northwestfesti
