Man hurt in gorge mishap

A Perth man had a lucky es­cape in Kar­i­jini Na­tional Park last week af­ter fall­ing down a cliff face in Jof­fre Gorge.

The 25-year-old from High Wy­combe fell about 2.5m down a cliff face last Wednes­day morn­ing.

Tom Price State Emer­gency Ser­vices vol­un­teers at­tended the scene along with park rangers, po­lice and St John Am­bu­lance, where it was de­cided a ver­ti­cal lift res­cue was re­quired to re­cover the man.

He was treated at the scene be­fore be­ing lifted and was taken to Tom Price Hospi­tal with a bro­ken arm and a lac­er­a­tion above one eye.

Just over a year ago a 19-year-old Ger­man man died in a 7m fall at Han­cock Gorge and a wo­man re­ceived head in­juries in a sep­a­rate fall at Hamer­s­ley Gorge on the same day.
