Film to ex­pose Pil­bara’s nat­u­ral beauty

film­mak­ers are set to ex­pose more than just the Pil­bara’s wild beauty on the big screen af­ter se­cur­ing fi­nan­cial back­ing for a new movie, The Naked Wan­derer.

Writ­ten by Perth co­me­dian Cal­lan Dur­lik, the film fol­lows a man’s ad­ven­tures af­ter he loses his job and girl­friend and de­cides to walk from Mar­garet River to North West WA to raise money for char­ity. The com­edy catch is he plans to walk naked.

Dur­lik wrote the script dur­ing a visit to the Pil­bara af­ter be­ing amazed by its nat­u­ral beauty.

“The Naked Wan­derer is all about the ro­mance of the land­scape and him find­ing him­self in that beau­ti­ful area of the world,” Dur­lik said ear­lier this year.

“So we are hop­ing to help the re­gion out with tourists and tourism in­ter­est.”

The Pil­bara and its land­scape will not only star on the screen.

Lo­cals have also been im­por­tant be­hind the scenes, as fi­nanWA cial con­sul­tants RSM Cameron Kar­ratha and lo­cal gov­ern­ment body the Pil­bara Re­gional Coun­cil helped Dur­lik find back­ers for the film.

He also hopes to get the help of lo­cal gov­ern­ments in the com­ing months to find film­ing lo­ca­tions.

WA co­me­dian Cal­lan Dur­lik has se­cured fi­nan­cial back­ing to shoot his film about a naked man find­ing love in the Pil­bara.
