Festival celebrates community
Bulgarra Oval is set to come alive with hundreds of activities to keep the whole family entertained at the 44th annual FeNaClNG Festival.
The Karratha Dampier Lions Club event is from Friday, July 29, to Sunday, July 31.
Club president Wayne Donohoe said there would be plenty of fun activities and entertainment for people of all ages.
“It’s the best event of the year and that’s what we get told all the time because it doesn’t matter whether you’re two or 80, you can still go to it — you can still find something there for you,” he said.
“It brings the community together.”
In store for festival-goers this year are two nights of live music; X-Factor finalist Big T headlines on Saturday night and INXS and Divinyls tribute bands take to the stage on Sunday.
There will also be a line-up of local talent on display.
“It showcases local talent because other than the two big bands on Saturday and Sunday night, all of the others are local in schools or groups in some description,” Mr Donohoe said.
Channel 7’s Doopa Dog will be roving the grounds meeting and greeting all his little fans.
Celebrity chef Anna Phillips will be hosting a series of cooking demonstrations on the Saturday and Sunday from her FeNaClNG kitchen table.
Mr Donohoe said this year’s float parade was set to be bigger and better.
The festival favourites, including food stalls, carnival rides and games and showbags are also in store.
All funds raised from the FeNaClNG Festival go to the Lions Club, who put the money back into the community.
