Bennies tour brings punk favourites north
Aussie punk favourites The Bennies are bringing their energetic show to Karratha next week.
The Bennies will take the stage at the Tambrey on Thursday, July 28.
Bassist and vocalist Craig Selak said the band had never been to the Pilbara before and were “absolutely psyched” to play to the Karratha crowd.
The Bennies are in the middle of an extensive Australian tour, which includes many stops in regional towns across the country.
Selak said the band loved touring and seeing as much of the country as possible.
“It’s the best — it’s what we love to do the most,” he said.
“We hate seeing that Australian tour where (a band doesn’t) even go to Adelaide or Tassie or whatever . . . it’s really important that we get in front of as many people as we can.”
The Bennies found success in 2014 for their Knights Forever tour, which followed the release of their album, Rainbows in Space.
Their song, Party Machine, made it to No. 88 in last year’s Triple J Hottest 100 and is the first single off their latest album, Wisdom Machine, which was released in March.
Renowned for their raucous, live shows, Selak said the band tried to bring as much energy as possible to their gigs.
“We try to (create) an environment where it’s fun and exciting and people can feel included but not in danger and that’s something we work hard on stage and off stage to foster,” he said.
“We’re just four energetic dudes, so whenever we’re hanging out and we’re having a good time, it seems to spread some energy around anyway, so that kind of flows into the show.”
Their Tambrey gig is for over-18s only.
