Bobby Alec Memorial Cup honours much-loved footballer
Another lasting legacy has been left for a much-loved community member who died playing the game he loved in Roebourne last year.
Bobby Alec collapsed on the field during Ngarluma Yindjibarndi Foundation’s NAIDOC football carnival last year.
As a tribute, the championship cup unveiled this year was named the Bobby Alec Memorial Cup.
It is the second trophy to be named in his honour, with the Wickham Wolves and South Hedland Swans naming their annual NPFL grudge match trophy in his honour.
The Alec family has had a long history playing for both sides and are a well respected family in the Pilbara.
