Sister act keen to reveal new songs at festival

Pilbara fans of Aussie pop favourites The Veronicas are in for a treat as the duo are set to debut some new songs at next month’s North West Festival.

The Veronicas — Jess and Lisa Origliasso — have almost finished writing their fourth studio album, to be released later this year.

One half of the sibling duo, Jess Origliasso, said they were both looking forward to putting the new album out and were nervous and excited to play some unreleased songs for the first time at the festival.

Origliasso said their North West Festival set list would include classics such as 4ever and Untouched, as well as new single, In My Blood.

The Veronicas knocked Canadian rapper Drake off the top spot in the charts with In My Blood, which is a departure from their distinctive pop sound.

Jess describes the new single as an “atmospherical, electronical soundscape” describing the hypnotic feeling of falling in love at first sight.

Having performed at only one festival in Australia before and very few regional gigs, Origliasso said the pair were excited to come to Port Hedland.

“(North West Festival) just sounded really fun because we haven’t really been able to travel to regional Western Australia before, so it’s a new thing for us,” she said.

“There’s a different vibe and feeling when you do festivals and we want to be able to do more of those.”

“When we did do the regional tours, the entire town would come out for a night out. People really appreciate you being there.”
