FeNaClNG fest offers fun fare
The annual FeNaClNG Festival is back for 2016 this weekend.
The carnival fun takes place from 9.30am-11pm on Saturday and Sunday, and Bulgarra Oval in Karratha is the place to be.
The FeNaClNG Festival is the main fundraising event for the Lions Club of Karratha/Dampier.
The FeNaClNG tag comes from the chemical symbols of the three main production and export commodities in the towns: iron ore — Fe, salt — NaCl and natural gas — NG (not strictly correct but it makes the name work).
The festival is of such importance locally that the Monday after is taken as a public holiday (in lieu of the Queen’s Birthday).
FeNaClNG is similar to an agricultural show but instead of agriculture there will be displays of art and craft, food stalls, markets, sideshows, rides, music, sport and entertainment.
