Deadline looms on Australia Post aid
Pilbara residents are being encouraged to apply for the 2016 Australia Post One Netball Community Awards, with just one week left for nominations.
The awards celebrate individuals, clubs and associations in communities who go above and beyond the call of duty to ensure everyone, regardless of background, skill or ability, is welcome in netball.
Paraburdoo Netball Association was one of seven national winners last year. The association bought new uniforms, and since winning the award, the team has taken a group of players to the Under-12s North West Netball Championships for the first time in more than five years.
Paraburdoo Netball Association president Joanne Cunningham said winning the award meant a lot.
“Achieving this accolade has opened the team’s eyes to how influential the game of netball can be and how it can positively impact individuals and the community,” she said.
Australian Diamonds player and Australia Post One Netball ambassador Clare McMeniman said the awards were a great way to share the stories of those who used the power of the game to create a safe, inclusive and fun environment for all.
“We’re on the lookout for passionate inclusion advocates, both on and off the court, from coaches and umpires to players, parents and volunteers,” she said.
