Orange caramel apples
Preparation: 10 minutes Cooking: 15 minutes Serves: 4–6 Ingredients
2 tbsp butter or margarine 4 apples, peeled and cut downwards into 5mm slices 2 tbsp brown sugar 1 tsp cinnamon Juice and finely shredded rind of 1 orange
1⁄2 cup pecans, chopped roughly Ice-cream to serve
Heat 1 tbsp butter or margarine in a heavy frying pan. Add a few apple slices at a time, cooking until they are golden brown. Remove and keep warm. Add remaining tbsp butter to pan, along with brown sugar, orange juice and rind and pecans. Serve warm apples and ice-cream with hot sauce poured over.
