Police seek victims of sext abuse

Local police are calling for public assistance with two investigations into alleged child sex offenders in the Pilbara.

West Pilbara Detectives are investigating a 20-year-old Pilbara man and a 22-year-old Paraburdoo man on child sex offence charges and are looking to speak to young men who may have unknowingly become victims by sending sexually explicit images to someone not personally known to them.

Police allege the 20-year-old man posed as a young woman on social media sites, especially Snapchat, and sent multimedia and text messages to encourage mostly underage young men to send explicit images of themselves.

Detective-Senior Constable Gina Horch, who is leading the investigations, said there were likely “a large number of potential victims out there”.

Anyone with information or who believes they may have been a victim of the accused can call West Pilbara detectives on 9143 7200 or email DetSen. Const. Horch at gina.horch@police.wa.gov.au.
