Rio tackles utility bill mix-up
Rio Tinto customer service staff are visiting Tom Price and Paraburdoo this month to address community concern over steep rises in customer utility bills caused by a technical error.
The resources company has opted for face-to-face meetings with local customers after a switch to an online payment system for water and electricity accounts accidentally resulted in elevated bills, with some ranging into the tens of thousands of dollars.
Two meeting sessions were held in Tom Price last week and another two will be held all day on August 18-19 in the Windawarri Lodge’s Karijini Room.
In Paraburdoo, customers can speak to company representatives on August 11-12 or August 25-26 throughout the day at the ATM Office on McRae Avenue.
