Rio tack­les util­ity bill mix-up

Rio Tinto cus­tomer ser­vice staff are vis­it­ing Tom Price and Parabur­doo this month to ad­dress com­mu­nity con­cern over steep rises in cus­tomer util­ity bills caused by a tech­ni­cal er­ror.

The re­sources com­pany has opted for face-to-face meet­ings with lo­cal cus­tomers af­ter a switch to an on­line pay­ment sys­tem for wa­ter and elec­tric­ity ac­counts ac­ci­den­tally re­sulted in el­e­vated bills, with some rang­ing into the tens of thou­sands of dol­lars.

Two meet­ing ses­sions were held in Tom Price last week and an­other two will be held all day on Au­gust 18-19 in the Win­dawarri Lodge’s Kar­i­jini Room.

In Parabur­doo, cus­tomers can speak to com­pany rep­re­sen­ta­tives on Au­gust 11-12 or Au­gust 25-26 through­out the day at the ATM Of­fice on McRae Av­enue.
