Fun at maths camp

Pil­bara high school math­letes had a chance to shine at the an­nual North West Maths Camp last week­end.

Kar­ratha Se­nior High School hosted about 35 stu­dents from Ex­mouth Dis­trict High, New­man Se­nior High and the host school for this year’s an­nual event, which is funded by the Wood­side-op­er­ated North West Shelf Pro­ject through the Kar­ratha Ed­u­ca­tion Ini­tia­tive.

Par­tic­i­pants were tested with a math­e­mat­i­cal Amaz­ing Race, a se­ries of STEM de­sign ac­tiv­i­ties and a quiz night be­fore a fi­nal pre­sen­ta­tion on Sun­day.

Kar­ratha Se­nior High School head of math­e­mat­ics Ryan Ansell said the camp was a chance for stu­dents who are pas­sion­ate about maths to come to­gether for healthy com­pe­ti­tion and fun.
