A world record set by Spirit Radio 1260 Karratha has been toppled by Brisbane’s top breakfast radio show — but the local team say they are not ready to admit defeat just yet.

Last Wednesday, Brisbane radio station Hit 105 breakfast announcers Stav Davidson and Abby Coleman attempted to set a new record for “Most Fitbit Steps By Two People In An Hour While Hosting A Radio Show”, a title proudly held since March 2 by Karratha presenters Pablo Miller and Angie Ayers.

Miller and Ayers’ record stood at a combined 14,223 steps in an hour and the Hit 105 team beat it with 15,772 steps, crushing Miller, who they crossed to during judging. He told them he had not relinquished the fight, claiming “this is war” and the duo would be in training all week to attempt to re-claim the title live on-air today.

Speaking later in the week, he said that training may have tapered off a little though the will to win had not.

“If anything, we have stopped training,” he said. “We think it’s probably best to put our feet up for the week so we are fresh. Perfect timing to hit the couch to enjoy watching some Rio 2016 for inspiration.

“With only one good knee between the two of us, rest is the best training we can do.”

To hear how the team goes at their second attempt, tune in to Spirit 1260 at 8.30am today.
