Kar­ratha up for top awards

Kar­ratha has eight nom­i­nees vy­ing for wins in this year’s West Aus­tralian Re­gional Achieve­ment and Com­mu­nity Awards.

Re­gional De­vel­op­ment Aus­tralia Pil­bara is up for three awards: De­vel­op­ment of North­ern Re­gional WA, Lead­er­ship and In­no­va­tion, and Com­mu­nity Group of the Year.

The Lions Club of Kar­ratha Dampier will com­pete against the RDA in the Com­mu­nity Group of the Year and De­vel­op­ment of North­ern Re­gional WA cat­e­gories.

Also in the De­vel­op­ment of North­ern Re­gional WA cat­e­gory are Kar­ratha’s KBSS Engi­neer­ing and the Onslow Cham­ber of Com­merce and In­dus­try.

Com­mu­nity Group of the Year will be hotly con­tested, with Pil­bara Com­mu­nity Le­gal Ser­vice, the Roe­bourne PCYC and Tom Price Emer­gency Ser­vices Cadet Corps also in the run­ning.

Wick­ham’s Liam Kelly is up for the RAC Vol­un­teer­ing award and Clean­away is in the run­ning for the Re­gional Safety award.

Some 89 nom­i­na­tions have been made, 20 of them from the Pil­bara.

Only Bun­bury and Ger­ald­ton have more nom­i­na­tions than Kar­ratha.
