The City of Karratha will incorporate community feedback into its final decision on the major public artworks to be installed at the Karratha Arts and Community Precinct.

Councillors are considering designs for public artworks in two different locations; one on the staircase in the main foyer and another on the planned amphitheatre shade structure, and have now short-listed the original 12 design options down to three for each location.

At last week’s council meeting, councillor Margaret Bertling suggested community members had a chance to assess the artwork ideas before the final vote.

It was decided community members should have the chance to view and have their say on the short-listed designs, which will be factored into the council’s final decision.

The council is still exploring how community feedback will be provided, with the most likely options being either through an online survey or public showcase of designs.

The final decision will be made in October and November this year.

Construction is predicted to be completed by March, 2018.
