Roads get fund­ing

More than $1 mil­lion has been awarded to the City of Kar­ratha to as­sist in lo­cal road con­struc­tion and main­te­nance.

The Fed­eral Govern­ment’s Roads to Re­cov­ery pro­gram has pro­vided $1.37 mil­lion to the City, and a fur­ther $336,787 to the Shire of East Pil­bara for Pil­bara roads.

In­fra­struc­ture and Trans­port Min­is­ter Dar­ren Ch­ester said the pro­gram de­liv­ered fund­ing where it was needed based on lo­cal knowl­edge.

Du­rack MHR Melissa Price said coun­cils in the elec­torate of Du­rack had re­ceived more than $7 mil­lion in Roads to Re­cov­ery pay­ments.

Ms Price said more than 53,500 road projects had been funded across the coun­try through the pro­gram to date.
