Onslow ma­jor works win­ner

Al­most $50 mil­lion will be spent on cap­i­tal works projects in the shire of Ash­bur­ton af­ter Shire coun­cil­lors ap­proved its 2016/17 bud­get late last month.

Onslow will be the big­gest bene­fac­tor this fi­nan­cial year, with money go­ing to­wards the ad­min­is­tra­tion com­plex, pool, skate park, refuse site, board­walk, pon­toon re­pairs, bowl­ing rink, Shanks Road and gen­eral re­newals.

Parabur­doo will have money spent on the com­mu­nity re­cre­ation hub while up the road, Tom Price’s Sta­dium Road will get a facelift.

Shire pres­i­dent Kerry White said this year’s had been an­other chal­leng­ing bud­get amid dif­fi­cult eco­nomic con­di­tions.

Road­works will in­clude work on Roe­bourne-Wit­tenoom Road and re-sheet­ing of unsealed roads.
