Onslow major works winner
Almost $50 million will be spent on capital works projects in the shire of Ashburton after Shire councillors approved its 2016/17 budget late last month.
Onslow will be the biggest benefactor this financial year, with money going towards the administration complex, pool, skate park, refuse site, boardwalk, pontoon repairs, bowling rink, Shanks Road and general renewals.
Paraburdoo will have money spent on the community recreation hub while up the road, Tom Price’s Stadium Road will get a facelift.
Shire president Kerry White said this year’s had been another challenging budget amid difficult economic conditions.
Roadworks will include work on Roebourne-Wittenoom Road and re-sheeting of unsealed roads.
