Run­ner’s quest to im­prove men­tal health

A Kar­ratha man is on a mis­sion to raise money and aware­ness for bet­ter men­tal health care, by run­ning a half-marathon for each day of this month.

Avid run­ner Blake Rear­don, who is fundrais­ing for Aus­tralian men­tal health and sui­cide pre­ven­tion char­ity LIVIN, said he was mo­ti­vated to take on gru­elling 21.1km daily chal­lenge af­ter los­ing a friend to sui­cide a year ago.

So far Mr Rear­don said he was hold­ing up well, with re­cov­ery from back-to-back runs the main strug­gle, and he hopes to run in Kar­ratha, Dampier, Wick­ham and Port Hed­land this month to spread the word.
