Snakebites put girl, 10, and man in hos­pi­tal

Two peo­ple were rushed to hos­pi­tal af­ter they were bit­ten by snakes in sep­a­rate in­ci­dents in the Pil­bara

A 10-year-old girl was bit­ten about 2.30pm last Wed­nes­day in Nin­ga­loo.

She was taken to Nin­ga­loo Sta­tion, a sheep sta­tion 40km north of Co­ral Bay.

Paramedics met her home­stead and took Ex­mouth Air­port.

She was then trans­ferred onto a Royal Fly­ing Doc­tor Ser­vice flight to Port Hed­land.

The girl re­mained at Hed­land Health Cam­pus overnight.

She was reported to be in a sta­ble con­di­tion.

Two hours later, a man in his 60s was bit­ten by a snake in Deep Gorge on the Bur­rup Penin­sula, near Kar­ratha.

The man was rushed to Nickol Bay Hos­pi­tal un­der pri­or­ity con­di­tions , in a sta­ble con­di­tion.

The species of the snakes is un­known.
