Three men in court on child sex charges

Three Roe­bourne men charged with child sex of­fences after lo­cal po­lice in­ves­ti­ga­tions ap­peared be­fore Kar­ratha Mag­is­trate’s Court last week.

West Pil­bara De­tec­tives and Roe­bourne po­lice laid the charges two weeks ago and al­lege the men were in­volved in var­i­ous in­ap­pro­pri­ate be­hav­iour with young girls gen­er­ally aged be­tween 13 and 16.

The cases are all un­re­lated.

Barry Pat, 52, ap­peared via video link from Roe­bourne Re­gional Prison on Tues­day, Septem­ber 13 charged with two counts of sex­ual pen­e­tra­tion of a child over 13 and un­der 16 and one count of in­de­cently deal­ing with a child over 13 and un­der 16.

Mr Pat’s de­fence lawyer Shaban Azad said at this stage his client in­tended to plead not guilty to all three charges.

Rod­ney Lock­yer, 45, ap­peared on charges of in­de­cently deal­ing with a child over 13 and un­der 16, of­fer­ing a pro­hib­ited drug, and pos­ses­sion of drug para­pher­na­lia.

Kim Wil­liams, 39, ap­peared in court on Wed­nes­day charged with in­de­cently deal­ing with a child over 13 and un­der 16.

Mr Lock­yer will next ap­pear in court in Oc­to­ber for le­gal advice.

Mr Pat and Mr Wil­liams are set to reap­pear in De­cem­ber.
