Two towns hit in spate of burglaries

Roe­bourne and Wick­ham com­mu­nity premises have been tar­geted by bur­glars in the past two weeks.

A group of youths al­legedly bur­gled Roe­bourne Vis­i­tor Cen­tre, a Sholl Street house, and Roe­bourne Hos­pi­tal overnight on Tues­day, Septem­ber 6.

Roe­bourne po­lice act­ing of­fi­cer-in-charge Sergeant Steve Tay­lor said po­lice had last week ar­rested three 17-year-old boys and one 14-year-old boy over the in­ci­dents after re­ceiv­ing in­for­ma­tion about a per­son of in­ter­est.

Each of the ac­cused has been charged with ag­gra­vated burglary and steal­ing.

One has been re­manded in cus­tody.

In a sep­a­rate in­ci­dent, the Wick­ham Pic­ture Gar­dens out­door cinema was also bro­ken into two weeks ago.

Po­lice have charged two young peo­ple with ag­gra­vated burglary over the of­fence.

On Monday, Septem­ber 5, Ngar­luma Yind­jibarndi Foun­da­tion of­fices in Roe­bourne were bro­ken into.

A ve­hi­cle and a set of keys were al­legedly stolen.

Po­lice in­quiries into that case are on­go­ing.
