Pilbara News - - News - Tom Zaunmayr

Easternwell has opened its community grants program and is encouraging groups, clubs and associations to apply for funding up to $2000.

Established in 2011, the program provides financial and social assistance in regions where Easternwell has key mining operations, such as the Pilbara.

Easternwell general manager Tim Phelan said the grants were to support groups making a difference in their community.

“Last year our grass-roots program provided funding for all sorts of initiatives, including purchasing sports equipment, training courses and resources, electronic equipment, a portable shade marquee as well as adult and toddler dummies for first aid training,” he said. “We’re passionate about supporting our local communities and the grants program is just one of the ways we’re creating a lasting benefit for the wider community.”

Since establishing the program, Easternwell has awarded more than $70,000 to 41 organisations, including Karratha Basketball Association, Mungallala Progress and Sporting Association, Pilbara Community Legal Service, Newman St John Ambulance and Fortescue Cricket Association.

Applications must be received before October 14. For more information, visit eastern communitygrants.
