Switched-on Seagulls cut the Giraffes down to size
This week on the hockey pitch, the Karratha Seagulls smashed the Pilbara Giraffes in a one-sided affair.
Nathan Fitzgerald, full-back for the Giraffes, had a big game and saved many goals during a match where the ball spent much of the time down their end of the pitch.
Tim Ballantyne at half-back joined him in defence, but it was difficult to keep out the goals against the Seagulls’ constant onslaught.
The couple of goals the Giraffes did score were from quick passes out of defence to striker Trudi Tunstead before the Seagulls could run back to stop them.
The Seagulls played hard all match, with the Shakespeare family trio of Garion, Martyn and Nevin showing the opposition what teamwork should look like.
The final score was 13-3 for the Seagulls.
The Nickol Bay Hockey Association plays social hockey every Wednesday in school term time at the Bulgarra Tennis Courts and welcomes all players.
