Business gathers to celebrate
The red carpet was rolled out for members of the local business community at the 2016 Karratha and Districts Chamber of Commerce and Industry Business Excellence Awards on Saturday, September 3.
Guests embraced the relatively rare opportunity to dress up in the Pilbara for the Karratha business night of nights, held at the Tambrey Function Centre, and well and truly rose to the event’s high standard of Hollywood glitz and glamour.
After drinks, entrees and plenty of photos outside, three breakdancers dressed as golden Oscar statuettes grabbed the crowd’s attention before MCs Pablo Miller and Angie Ayers took to the Tambrey stage to start proceedings.
KDCCI chief executive John Lally and president Grant Reilly delivered speeches praising the state of local business and a long list of sponsors presented the 14 award categories up for grabs.
Among the big winners was Blanche Bar, which picked up six category awards, including business of the year, as well as induction into the hall of fame for winning in hospitality and tourism for three years running.
Yo-Get-It Karratha won another four gongs.
Perth band Little Belle got the crowd up and dancing to see out the night.
