Ren­ter ar­rested af­ter tip-off

Kar­ratha po­lice have ar­rested a man for al­legedly pos­sess­ing a traf­fi­ca­ble amount of metham­phetamine af­ter a house raid last week.

Of­fi­cers searched a house in Pegs Creek in Kar­ratha last Tues­day based on in­for­ma­tion they re­ceived from the pub­lic.

They al­legedly found more than 28g of metham­phetamine on the prop­erty. A 22-year-old man be­lieved to be leas­ing the prop­erty was ar­rested and has been charged with pos­ses­sion of a pro­hib­ited drug with in­tent to sell or sup­ply.

He ap­peared in court last Wed­nes­day.

The amount of meth al­leged to have been re­cov­ered is in ex­cess of the thresh­old for drug traf­fick­ing un­der the Mis­use of Drugs Act.

Kar­ratha po­lice of­fi­cer-in-charge Se­nior Sergeant An­drew Stevens said tar­get­ing al­leged drug deal­ers was a fo­cus for the sta­tion and meth finds of this quan­tity were “very sig­nif­i­cant”.
